Love it! Keep ‘em coming! And yes this… on the roller coaster that is a season, one of the things we look back on is the new ways we look at our boys in red. I don’t think I cared about Granit Xhaka even 1/10 as much at this point last season. I mean he was always reliable and dependable, worked hard and played with emotion. Respected all of that. But now he’s a freaking legend in my mind. For me at least, he’s been added to the pantheon of arsenal greats. This season, we know there will be ups and downs, but I actually look forward to finding out who I will grow to love this season, either for the first time, in a new light, or just deeper than before. Just another aspect of the madness and fun of fandom.

Hey Pappy! Glad to see you're still reading pal. Nice one :)

Love your point about Granit, and I had the same experience. He went from that irritating but dependable uncle you've got to deal with because he's in the family, to one of the first names on the invitees list. I was sad to see him go in the end.

Agree too about seeing who rises above the waterline into view this season. It happened with ESR, and I thought he was moving toward being a permanent starter, then he seemed to wash away again. Who will it be this year?

Thanks so much for reading Pappy. Have a great day dude.

Love! One can always count on you for perspective, Jonathan, along with a unique spin and connection to something seemingly unconnected.

Apologies for the late reply Anushree, (I’ve got the mind of a goldfish at the moment).

Thanks so much for the comment about seemingly unconnected connections, I was just contemplating next week’s article (which may be a hall of mirrors) reflecting and connecting all manner of things. Something on Arteta’s innovations and the way the past lingers beyond its welcome and somewhat overshadows the present, sometimes.
